The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr Aminu Yusuf Wushishi, has died after a brief illness.
Wushishi reportedly died on Friday, August 28, 2026, in Minna, Niger State, with news of his death emerging around the time of the Juma’at prayer.
His Special Adviser on Media, Stanley Nwosu, confirmed the development, saying the NPC chairman died after a brief illness.
“Yes, it is true. The NPC chairman died after a brief illness,” Nwosu said.
Wushishi, a former Secretary of the Niger State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, was appointed to head the population commission before his death.
His demise has reportedly thrown his associates and political supporters in Niger State into mourning.
