The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has declared the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano unfit for league matches after it failed to meet minimum club licensing requirements.
The facility, which serves as home ground for Kano Pillars and Barau FC, was found wanting in several key areas during inspection.
Deficiencies highlighted include a poorly maintained pitch below broadcast standards, unconducive dressing rooms, substandard technical benches, and the absence of standard floodlight facilities.
The NPFL has directed both Kano-based clubs to urgently upgrade the stadium or risk relocating their fixtures to alternative venues.
League officials emphasized that quality infrastructure remains vital for player safety, fair competition, and the overall development of Nigerian football.
