Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State have intercepted four trucks transporting stolen telecommunication wires and electrical equipment from Kano to Lagos.
The arrest, made at the old Ore Toll Gate along the Lagos-Benin Expressway in Odigbo Local Government Area, led to the capture of four suspects: Mogaji Ibrahim (40), Umaru Adamu (32), Abba Muhazu (19), and Adamu Idris (25).
According to the NSCDC spokesperson in the state, Daniel Aidamenbor, the operation was based on credible intelligence. He said the suspects were caught with vandalised items, including telecommunication cables, BEDC transformer components, high-tension wires, copper, armoured cables, and other cut-to-size metal materials.
“The suspects were transporting these critical infrastructure components from Kano to Lagos when they were intercepted. All the recovered items have been secured as evidence,” Aidamenbor stated.
He added that the suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are underway to identify their sponsors and dismantle the criminal syndicate involved.
Aidamenbor reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to safeguarding national assets and cracking down on economic saboteurs targeting public infrastructure.
