NSCDC uncovers illegal crude oil reservoir in Ondo

The operatives of the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have uncovered an illegal crude oil reservoir in the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

Aidamenbor said the illegal crude oil reservoir was uncovered during a joint operation with the Nigerian Army and Tantita Security Service.

Aidamenbor stated that the reservoir was hidden in a forest in Obe-Akingboye, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

He said the discovery was made at about 2:12 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, with no arrest made as the suspects already fled the scene of the incident.

The NSCDC spokesman added: “The Ondo State Commandant, Mr Oluyemi Ibiloye, has issued a stern warning to those involved in illegal dealings in petroleum products to desist or face the full weight of the law.

“He also reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting critical national assets, particularly in the solid minerals sector.”
