The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed a viral pamphlet advising corps members to pay ransom if kidnapped by gunmen.
The NYSC described the pamphlet circulating on social media as fake and not representative of the Scheme’s policy.
The NYSC management, in a statement on Thursday, November 20, 2025, clarified that although a consultant submitted a similar document to the Scheme for consideration in 2021, it was never approved or adopted.

“The document being circulated is not an official NYSC publication and does not represent the Scheme’s policy regarding staff and corps members’ security; as such, it should be ignored,” it stated.
The Scheme emphasised its unwavering commitment to the security and welfare of staff and corps members, noting that it will to work closely with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure their safety.
