The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned Corps Producing Institutions (CPIs) against uploading the data of unqualified graduates into its mobilisation system, stressing that offenders will face sanctions.
The warning was issued by the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier-General Nafiu Olakunle, during the opening of the 2026 Batch “A” Pre-Mobilisation Workshop in Abuja.
The workshop was themed “Enhancing Service Delivery Across the NYSC Mobilisation Value Chain.”
Brigadier-General Olakunle said the scheme had identified persistent challenges in the mobilisation process and emphasised that all stakeholders must carry out their responsibilities diligently to safeguard the credibility and efficiency of the programme.
He stated that the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters would not hesitate to impose appropriate penalties on any institution found to be in breach of established mobilisation guidelines.
According to the Director-General, the mobilisation process is a complex system involving the production, validation, mobilisation, deployment and management of prospective corps members, adding that recurring issues continue to affect effective service delivery.
He listed some of the challenges as the inclusion of unqualified graduates, inconsistent academic records, data discrepancies, deliberate manipulation of records for personal or illegal gain, and weak internal verification mechanisms within some institutions.
Olakunle warned that such practices undermine the integrity of the mobilisation process and expose the scheme to avoidable operational and reputational risks.
To address the challenges, he urged CPIs to strengthen their internal data validation procedures before uploading graduates’ records, while also calling on heads of institutions to provide closer supervision of mobilisation activities.
He further advised that desk officers should be given regular training to keep up with evolving standards and technological requirements.
