Obasa’s son sworn in as Agege LG chairman

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has sworn in Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa as the Chairman of Agege Local Government.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony at Lagos House in Ikeja on Monday, December 22, 2025, Sanwo-Olu urged Abdul-Ganiyu, son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, to provide responsive leadership and avoid divisive politics at the grassroots.

The governor stressed that discipline, performance and inclusiveness remain key benchmarks for leadership in Lagos State.

The event also saw the inauguration of Toyin Adejimiwa as the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI).

In his remarks, Abdul-Ganiyu thanked Sanwo-Olu and pledged to align his administration with the state’s development goals.

Abdul-Ganiyu, who had been in acting capacity, was confirmed after the resignation of former council boss, Tunde Azeez, over health issues.

He had earlier expressed interest in contesting the chairmanship ahead of the 2025 local government elections, but faced opposition to his candidacy.
