A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akindele Ayekooto, has claimed that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, may not secure the presidential ticket of the emerging opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Instead, Ayekooto predicted that Obi would serve as Director General of a potential Atiku-Amaechi presidential campaign.
In a post shared on X, he wrote: “From the look of things, Peter Obi will be the DG of Atiku-Amaechi Campaign Organisation.”
His comments come amid growing signs that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is preparing for another presidential run in 2027.
Atiku has publicly pledged to fight corruption if elected.
Peter Obi has also signaled his intention to contest again in 2027, while there is increasing speculation that former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, will join the race as well.
The unfolding developments point to intense competition within the ADC-led coalition ahead of the next general election.
