Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has revealed that one of the tracks on his new album, Industry Machine, was inspired by his girlfriend and her friends.
Speaking on Apple Music’s Africa Now Radio with Nandi Madida, the rapper said the song titled Banza Boy celebrates women who are financially independent and self-assured.
“It took me three weeks to make the song,” he said.
“It’s about girls who have their own money and don’t need validation.
“I made it with my girlfriend and her friends after watching guys try to stunt on them.”
Odumodublvck described Industry Machine as a reflection of his work ethic and versatility, noting that the project showcases his evolution as an artist.
“When the name came to me, I realised that I’m actually the machine.
“The amount of music I’ve dropped this year — 39 songs — that’s machine. The Machine Is Coming and Industry Machine both went number one.
“You’ll hear rap, grime, EDM, gospel, R&B — it’s insane. Only the machine can do that,” he said.
The 23-track album features some of the biggest names in global music, including Wizkid, Stormzy, Skepta, and Davido. However, Odumodublvck stressed that the project goes beyond collaborations, describing it as a celebration of creativity and community.
“Everybody who came on the album got something for themselves.
“I made it 23 tracks long because that’s how albums are meant to be made,” he explained.
A passionate football enthusiast, Odumodublvck said the sport also influenced several tracks on the album.
“I don’t want hip-hop to always have that violent nature. I want kids to sing songs like Baggio and Maradona and learn from them.
“I love football more than music — that’s how real it is,” he added.
