Olubadan of Ibadan joins ancestors

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has joined his ancestors.

It was gathered that Olakulehin, who ascended the throne in July 2024, died in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025.

The monarch died after spending a year on the throne.

The demise of Oba Olakulehin, born on July 5, 1935, comes two days after celebrating his 90th birthday.

Oba Olakulehin was officially presented with the staff of office by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on July 12, 2024, becoming the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

He ascended the throne following the death of his predecessor, Oba Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who died on March 14, 2024, at the age of 81.

Prior to his ascension, Olakulehin held the prestigious title of Balogun Olubadan.
