The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Modupe Aisida, has called on opposition parties to form alliance with PDP in order to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Speaking in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Aisida said no single political party can defeat Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The PDP chairman stated that the president, who is well rooted in politics, has the advantage of the paraphernalia of office to achieve his reelection, hence the need for party alliance that would challenge him vigorously.
He said: “Tinubu is the incumbent president who is on top of the game; anybody that is thinking he can unseat him alone, must be living in fool paradise.
“There must be a form of collaboration, and PDP has a structure in every ward, local government, and in all states. Other opposition parties can come to us for such alliance.
“It’s normal. There’s nothing bad in it. Nobody is saying swallow this party or that. It happened in 1999. We have to be realistic.

“It’s a good thing if the opposition parties can work together. PDP is open to that. We are not saying we are too big.”
Aisida noted that it would have been a smooth ride for the PDP in the 2023 presidential election had it formed alliance with other opposition parties.
Aisida also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to give all political players fair dealings so that people would have confidence and trust in the commission.
“If there are free and fair elections, there will be no need for litigations nor any call for protest during or after conduct of election,” the PDP chairman added.
