A 20-year-old student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Audi Emmanuel, has been found dead in his off-campus residence in Emure-Ile, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The deceased, who was studying Computer Engineering, was discovered lifeless in his room along Awolowo Road.
The circumstances surrounding his death were yet to be determined as of the time of filing this report.
A video circulating on social media showed the scene, suggesting the body had been there for some time before it was discovered.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said officers responded promptly after receiving the report.
“The command confirms a suspected suicide incident involving a 20-year-old student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, who was found dead in his residence in Emure-Ile,” he said.
Jimoh added that the body had been recovered and deposited at a morgue for preservation and autopsy.
He noted that preliminary findings point to a suspected suicide, while a full investigation is ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.
The police also extended condolences to the family of the deceased and urged members of the public to seek support during periods of emotional distress.
