One dead, 26 rescued in Lagos building collapse

One person has been confirmed dead while 26 others were rescued after a two-storey building collapsed in the Oyingbo area of Lagos State.

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Oke-Osanyintolu, who led the coordinated rescue operation, told newsmen the agency received a distress call at 12:11 a.m. and immediately mobilised emergency responders to the scene.

Oke-Osanyintolu said: “So far, we have evacuated 21 people to various General Hospitals, and they are receiving adequate treatment.

“In Lagos State, victims of emergencies are treated free of charge and that policy is being implemented right now.”
