One person has been confirmed dead while two others sustained injuries following a gas tanker explosion at Ologuro bus stop in Sangotedo area of Lagos State.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident via a statement issued Saturday, March 21, 2026.
Oke-Osanyintolu said the agency’s emergency response team, known as the Shark Team, arrived promptly at the scene and discovered that a tipper truck with no identifiable registration number had rammed into a gas tanker from behind, triggering a fire outbreak.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the immediate cause of the incident was over speeding and reckless driving on the part of the tipper truck driver,” Oke-Osayintolu said.

The LASEMA boss said the fire engulfed four roadside shops, causing significant damage to property.
