One dies, 5 rescued in Lagos mosque collapse

One person has been confirmed dead while five others were rescued in a collapsed mosque at Papa Ajao in the Mushin area of Lagos State.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), in a statement issued by its Permanent Secretary, Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, disclosed that the mosque located on Yusuf Street at Papa Ajao collapsed while prayer was ongoing on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

Oke-Osanyintolu said search and rescue operations were taking place under his supervision.

The LASEMA boss listed emergency responders at the scene to include the LASEMA Response Team, the police, the Lagos State Ambulance Service, and the Lagos State Fire Service.
