Osimhen, Chelsea, Saudi club transfer deal collapses

The transfer deal between Premier League side Chelsea and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has collapsed.

Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli also failed to complete the signing of Nigeria striker Osimhen.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano announced this in a post shared on X on Friday night.

Romano wrote: “Deal completely off for Victor Osimhen.

“No agreement with Chelsea and #CFC delegation now leaving Napoli.

“If nothing happens from Saudi next 3 days, Osimhen will stay at Napoli but he’s not gonna be part of the first team squad. Relationship currently completely broken.”

The Star had reported that Ahli agreed a four-year contract worth around £33.6 million (€40 million) a season or £646,154 per-week with Osimhen.

Al Ahli also agreed fee for Chelsea striker target Ivan Toney.

The club agreed a £67.3 million (€80 million) fee with Napoli for Osimhen and a £40 million fee with Brentford for Toney.

FULL LIST: Transfer Deadline Day deals

Chelsea were prepared to bring in Osimhen on loan with an obligation to buy on the transfer deadline day, but Al Ahli moved ahead of Chelsea as they agreed a four-year contract with the 25-year-old striker worth around £33.6 million a season – or £646,154 per-week – tax-free. The contract also includes a release clause.

However, the Nigeria international did not give the green light to the move and Saudi sources disclosed that Al Ahli would sign just one of the strikers.

Before agreeing to the Saudi move, Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda insisted “he still has so much to do in Europe” – a statement which appeared to give Chelsea every chance to come up with an acceptable offer.

Napoli have already brought in a potential Osimhen replacement in Romelu Lukaku, who joined from Chelsea on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Toney has completed his move to the Saudi Arabian club after undergoing medical tests approved by Al Ahli in London, the United Kingdom.
