The Independent National Electoral Commission has resumed the uploading of results from Saturday’s Osun State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal, IReV, after a pause of more than three hours.
The upload, which stopped at about 8:48 p.m., resumed later in the night, with the number of results on the portal rising significantly.
As of 10:30 p.m., 3,292 of the 3,763 expected polling unit results had been uploaded, representing 87.48 per cent.
By 12:20 a.m., the figure had increased to 3,570 results, representing 94.87 per cent of the total expected uploads.
The earlier pause had triggered concerns within the camp of Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.
Adeleke had appealed to President Bola Tinubu to caution security agencies against any action capable of undermining the electoral process.
The governor also alleged attempts to disrupt collation centres in parts of the state, urging the police, DSS, Nigerian Army, NSCDC and other security agencies to ensure the protection of the electoral process.
His campaign organisation, the Imole Campaign Council, had separately alleged a plan to declare the election inconclusive.
The council, in a statement signed by its Media and Publicity Committee Chairman, Rep. Bamidele Salam, accused APC leaders and some governors of allegedly working to frustrate Adeleke’s expected victory.
It also called for tighter security at collation centres and alleged that ballot boxes had been hijacked at some polling units.
Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, also reacted to the delay, calling on INEC to upload the outstanding results.
“UPLOAD THE REST OF THE RESULTS,” he posted on X, while warning against allowing the Osun election to become inconclusive.
With the electronic upload now progressing, attention has shifted to the remaining results as collation continues across the state.
INEC is expected to complete the process before the Returning Officer makes the final declaration at the state collation centre.
