OsunDecides2026: Adeleke alleges plot to hijack collation centres, seeks Tinubu’s intervention

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke raised the alarm over an alleged plot by what he described as “desperate and rejected politicians” to hijack and disrupt collation centres across the state as votes from Saturday’s governorship election are being compiled.

In a statement posted on his X account on Saturday, August 15, 2026, Adeleke appealed to President Bola Tinubu to immediately direct security chiefs deployed for the election to prevent any attempt to compromise the collation process.

The governor said reports of planned attacks on collation centres were deeply troubling, particularly in view of the heavy deployment of security personnel to ensure a peaceful and credible election.

“It is imperative that you use your good office to issue a clear warning to the heads of security agencies deployed to protect the good people of Osun State and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process,” Adeleke said.

He urged the President to reaffirm his commitment that the votes cast by the people of Osun would count and that the outcome of the election would reflect their genuine choice.

Adeleke also called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies to ensure that no individual or group is allowed to hijack or disrupt the collation of results.

He further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to be given the necessary support to complete the process and deliver what he described as a transparent and credible outcome.

“The people of Osun State have spoken with one voice. Their votes must be protected, and their mandate must be respected,” the governor stated.
