Governor Ademola Adeleke of Accord Party has widened his lead in Saturday’s Osun State governorship election as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concluded the announcement of results from 17 local government areas.
Results declared at the state collation centre on Sunday morning showed the Accord Party polling 287,199 votes, maintaining a clear advantage over the All Progressives Congress (APC), which secured 244,838 votes.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) trailed with 7,970 votes.
Following the announcement of the results from the 17 LGAs, the State Returning Officer declared a short break in the collation exercise.

The INEC official said the collation of the remaining local government results would resume at 4:40 a.m. as electoral officials continue the process of determining the winner of the governorship election.
Collation is expected to continue until results from all 30 local government areas are announced before the commission declares the final outcome of the election.
