The Founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has narrated an incident from 1987 in which unknown individuals attempted to frame him by planting marijuana in his car.
Speaking in a now-viral video shared on social media on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, Oyedepo said the incident happened in Kaduna and was uncovered in an unexpected manner — thanks to his then-driver, Clifford.
According to him, Clifford had returned from Katsina and insisted on washing the car that morning.
He said while cleaning, the driver removed the seat and found a freshly wrapped substance.
Oyedepo said: “Some fellows planted marijuana in my car in 1987, in Kaduna, at the mechanical shop.
“My driver came in and said, ‘Sir, let me wash the car this morning.’ As he removed the seat, he found a freshly wrapped stuff.”
Oyedepo recalled that his frightened driver ran to him with the parcel.
Unfamiliar with what was discovered, the cleric said he initially mistook it for something his wife planted at home.
“He said, ‘This is wee-wee.’ I said, ‘What is wee-wee?’ I came to know Jesus early, so I didn’t know anything about such things,” Oyedepo added.
He said the situation grew more suspicious later that night when police officers stopped him and attempted to search his vehicle.
He stated: “That night, on my way home, a policeman who normally salutes me stopped me. I asked, ‘For what?’ He said they wanted to check. They went straight to the exact spot where that thing was kept. I said, ‘Shame on you.’ He said, ‘Sorry, sir.’”
Oyedepo described the episode as evidence of divine protection and a reminder of the dangers innocent people face due to malicious plots.
The cleric said: “No one can keep himself. We are kept by the power of God.
“There are many poor people in prison today who didn’t do anything. They are there because of the scheming of the wicked. You will not fall victim. The earlier you know Him and walk with Him, the better.”
