Oyo govt, DisCo resolve differences over debt

The crisis between the Oyo State Government and the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) over revenue and electricity debt has been resolved.

With the resolution of the crisis, the electricity company will reconnect the State Secretariat which houses the Governor’s Office that had been disconnected. In return, the state government will unseal the IBEDC offices that had been sealed.

IBEDC had disconnected electricity supply to the State Secretariat over N450 million debt owed by the state government.

In retaliation, the Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue secured court order for sealing off IBEDC offices in Ibadan, the state capital.

But the state government and the electricity distribution company (DisCo) on Thursday, resolved their differences after a meeting at the Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

They declared their readiness to work together to find an amicable resolution of all issues surrounding the recent sealing of the IBEDC offices in Ibadan by the state government.
