The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strong backing of the programme’s peacebuilding efforts in the Niger Delta.
Otuaro gave the commendation on Wednesday while delivering remarks at the opening of the second batch of a three-day Leadership, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Media Training for PAP stakeholders. The event, held in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, took place at the Centre’s headquarters in Abuja.
The first batch of the workshop was conducted from July 16 to July 18, 2025, at the same venue.
Dr. Otuaro said the president’s unwavering support for the PAP reflects a deep commitment to sustainable peace, stability, and development in the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.
“I am very grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for believing in the peacebuilding initiative undertaken by the PAP in our villages and communities,” Otuaro stated. “Mr. President’s support has been tremendous. It demonstrates his profound commitment to the socio-economic advancement of our region.”
He urged participants to view themselves as critical partners in the mission to maintain peace and drive progress, adding that the training was designed to strengthen their leadership and mediation skills.
“As stakeholders of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, you are worthy ambassadors in the peacebuilding project. We all have a responsibility to support Mr. President by working diligently for lasting peace in our communities,” he added.
Otuaro also expressed appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for his consistent guidance and support in the implementation of PAP’s objectives.
Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive leadership, Otuaro announced plans to expand empowerment programmes to include women in the region, acknowledging their role and sacrifices in the Niger Delta struggle.
He encouraged participants to avoid distractions during the workshop and fully engage in the training to build skills that will help them serve effectively as peace ambassadors.
The training forms part of the broader efforts by the PAP to equip ex-agitators and community stakeholders with tools to promote non-violent conflict resolution and leadership in their respective communities.
