Pastor Chris Okafor, the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, did not appear for a scheduled police interview concerning allegations of multiple rape and other serious offences, sources have confirmed.
The Lagos State Police Command had summoned Okafor to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, instructing him to report by 10:00 a.m. on Monday to speak with the Deputy Commissioner of Police leading the investigation.
In a statement on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, ordered a full investigation into the complaints, which involved alleged sexual offences and other actions said to potentially disrupt public peace.
However, a police source at SCID who spoke anonymously told our correspondent that Okafor did not show up for the interview.
Officers waited throughout the day but he never arrived.
Another source revealed that intermediaries contacted the police seeking additional time for the pastor, with assurances that he would eventually show up.
The police command has assured that security arrangements have been made for alleged victims, urging them to come forward for questioning as the investigation continues.
The identities of victims and witnesses are to be protected and kept confidential.
Despite this, no one has yet appeared to identify themselves as a victim or witness in the ongoing probe.
The scandal dates back to mid-December 2025, when a series of allegations against Okafor circulated widely on social media, including claims by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who said she had been in a long-term relationship with the pastor and accused him of breaking marriage promises and sharing explicit content.
Okafor addressed his congregation on New Year’s Day, expressing regret for past “mistakes” and asking for forgiveness, even kneeling before worshippers in an apparent apology.
The controversy has prompted reports that church authorities are considering disciplinary action, and Okafor is said to have stepped aside from his pastoral duties amid the scrutiny.
