Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has surrendered to the Lagos State Police Command following allegations of rape and other offences linked to public disturbance.

Police authorities confirmed that the case has been transferred to the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, for further investigation.

Okafor had earlier failed to honour a police invitation scheduled for Monday after being contacted by the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti.

Speaking on TVC, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, said the pastor initially communicated through his lawyer but did not appear as promised, prompting an order for his arrest. He later reported to the police on Tuesday.

Jimoh explained that the case was handed over to Zone 2 after it was confirmed that the matter had already been under investigation there for several weeks.

He noted that complaints shared on social media contributed to police action, saying authorities would not ignore reports that could threaten public peace.

The controversy surrounding Okafor gained attention in mid-December 2025 after multiple accusations surfaced online.

The pastor later addressed his congregation, apologising for what he described as past “mistakes,” and has reportedly stepped aside from ministerial duties while inquiries continue.

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria is also said to be reviewing the situation.

Police have assured that security measures are in place for complainants, while investigations at SCID, Panti, and Zone 2 remain ongoing.
