PDP BoT chairman resigns, ex-Senate President takes over

The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Walid Jibrin, has resigned.

The BoT chairman announced his resignation at the ongoing Trustees’ meeting on Thursday in Abuja.
Jibrin said he resigned in order to resolve some of the knotty issues confronting the opposition party, especially the leadership crisis.
There have been growing demands for the resignation of Jibrin and the party’s National Chairman, Iyorcha Ayu, since the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as presidential candidate.
The candidate, party chairman and Trustees’ chair are from the North.

Meanwhile, former Senate President Adolphus Wabara has replaced Jibrin.

Wabara until his appointment as the BoT chairman was the secretary of the Trustees.
