PDP BoT constitutes committee to end Atiku-Wike rift

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted a committee to reconcile the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

The committee is also saddled with the responsibility to reconcile all other warring factions and aggrieved members of the party ahead of the 2023 general election.

A member of the BoT, Sen. Abdul Ningi, who briefed journalists shortly after the BoT meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, further congratulated members of the PDP for the party’s victory in the July 16 Osun State gubernatorial election.

He noted that a high profile committee that include all members of the BoT has been formed to carry out the assignment.

Ningi said: “We have equally set out, in this meeting, committee of the BoT to be able to interface between warring factions particularly the acrimony that is taking place between the presidential candidate and Governor Wike and any other conflict that is taking place in the nation within our party formation. That is the conclusion of the meeting.

“The committee is a committee of the whole. That means every member of the BoT is a member of the committee. I cannot tell you the grievances and timeframe but right now we are heading to the House of the candidate in Asokoro to start this project.”

Sen. Ningi said the BoT members did not discuss the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Ayochia Ayu, in the meeting.

“We have not even discussed the matter of anybody’s stepping down. What we discussed is what I told you,” he added while responding to an inquiry on the resignation.

He further commended Ayu for conducting a successful primaries and national convention.
