The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, has declared that the party has overcome its internal crisis and is now focused on rebuilding ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ohuabunwa said the PDP had moved beyond the period of uncertainty caused by prolonged litigation, expressing confidence that the party would emerge stronger and more united.
He said the recent judgment of the Federal High Court had settled the leadership dispute within the party, adding that those still challenging the current leadership should accept the court’s decision.
According to him, “the last Friday’s judgment of the Federal High Court should be enough for those who are yet to accept the reality of a new PDP to beat a retreat.”
Ohuabunwa welcomed the judgment, describing it as consistent with an earlier ruling of the Supreme Court, and reaffirmed the Board of Trustees’ commitment to the rule of law.
He said, as the conscience and moral compass of the party, the BoT fully accepted the court’s decision and would continue to uphold the law.
The BoT chairman also warned that anyone parading himself as the chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees was committing criminal impersonation and would face legal consequences.
He urged party leaders to embrace reconciliation and collective responsibility, stressing the need to strengthen the party’s internal structures ahead of future elections.
Ohuabunwa assured members and supporters that the party would take necessary steps to deepen unity, restore stability and position itself for victory in the 2027 general elections.
