The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally issued certificates of expulsion to several prominent members, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; and the party’s former National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, over alleged anti-party activities.
Also expelled are former National Organizing Secretary Umar Bature; former National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade; former lawmaker Mao Ohuabunwa; factional Board of Trustees Chairman Dan Orbih; Imo PDP Chairman Austine Nwachukwu; Abia PDP Chairman Amah Nnanna; and PDP South-South Zonal Secretary Turnah George.
The individuals were originally expelled during the party’s National Convention held on November 15, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Speaking to journalists after a three-hour National Working Committee meeting, PDP National Chairman Tanimu Turaki said issuance of the certificates was necessary to formally affirm the expulsions and allow the affected individuals to join other political parties without complications.
“When they go to register with other political parties in Nigeria, they will show these certificates as proof that they are no longer members of the PDP, so those parties will not accuse them of trying to belong to more than one political party,” Turaki explained.
