Petrol price hike: Makinde approves N10,000 allowance for Oyo workers

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has approved N10,000 monthly transportation allowance for civil servants in the state.

Makinde announced this during the supervision of the YEAP-SAFER support disbursement and stakeholder engagement programme at the Fashola Agribusiness Hub in Oyo town on Monday, March 23, 2026.

He said the initiative would be implemented for an initial period of three months, adding that the payment of the N10,000 transport allowance will take effect from March.

The governor said details of the disbursement guidelines would be communicated through appropriate government channels in due course.

Makinde said the initiative was part of the Oyo State Government’s strategic response to prevailing economic challenges, particularly the rising cost of transportation driven by the ongoing energy crisis.

Makinde added that the challenge had significantly affected workers’ welfare and productivity.

He said the support scheme was aimed at easing the financial strain on civil servants while sustaining efficient service delivery across ministries, departments, and agencies.
