Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun has appointed world athletic champion, Tobi Amusan, as Youth Ambassador.
The governor also gifted the athlete a house as well as N5 million in recognition of her world record.
Abiodun made the announcement on Tuesday when he received the athlete in his office in Abeokuta.
His word: “My adopted daughter and world-record holding athlete, Ms Tobi Amusan paid me a courtesy visit in Oke-Mosan this morning.
“I announced her appointment as Youth Ambassador in Ogun State and a donation of a house, as well as N5 million in recognition of her world records and other stellar achievements.
“We had adopted the Ogun State daughter for career support earlier this year, as Ms Amusan displayed the result-driven spirit of resilience, hardwork and determination that the State is known for.”
Amusan recently won the women’s 100 metres hurdle at the Diamond League final in Zurich. She broke a 22-year-old record following the win.
The World and Commonwealth Games 100m hurdles champion and record holder finished in 12.29s.
Amusan is the first Nigerian to win a gold medal at the championship.
This adds to her feats this year as she won golden medals at the World Athletics Championship in Oregon and at the 2022 Commonwealth games in the United Kingdom.
