PHOTOS: Shettima using leave to study, says Presidency

The Presidency says Vice President Kashim Shettima is using his ongoing two-week leave for study, reflection, and personal development as part of efforts to strengthen his capacity for public service.

The Presidency said Shettima’s decision to dedicate his leave to reading and learning reflects his belief that effective leadership requires continuous self-improvement.

The vice president’s spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, in a statement on Monday, August 10, 2026, noted that periods away from the demands of public office provide an opportunity to reflect on ideas, broaden knowledge and return to official duties with greater focus and clarity.

Sharing the vice president’s pictures on X, Nkwocha added that Shettima’s leave is being used to deepen the knowledge needed for the continued discharge of his responsibilities in service to Nigeria.

He wrote: “A Time To Read, Reflect, and Learn.

“As predicted by many, during his two-week leave, Vice President Kashim Shettima, by custom, takes time for study and reflection.

“Leadership is sustained by the willingness to keep learning. Sometimes, stepping away from the daily rush creates the space to examine ideas more carefully and return to responsibility with greater clarity.

“For the Vice President, the period is also an opportunity to deepen the knowledge required for continued service to Nigeria.

“Learning does not end when responsibility begins. In many ways, greater responsibility makes learning even more necessary.”
