Plateau Speaker escapes kidnap

The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Yakubu Sanda, has narrowly escaped being kidnapped by gunmen in the state.

It was gathered that the Speaker was in his house in Jos, the Plateau State capital when gunmen suspected to be kidnappers arrived in a car and tried to force themselves to get to him on Friday night.

It was learned that the gunmen were resisted by the policemen who were assisted by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area.

Confirming the incident via a statement issued on Saturday, the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, said efforts were ongoing to arrest the gunmen.

“However, the command is making concerted effort to track down the fleeing suspects and get them arrested.
