Police arrest 184 suspected internet fraudsters, terrorism financiers in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has apprehended 184 suspects linked to internet fraud and suspected terrorism financing during a major raid in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.

Police report revealed that the operation was carried out on Monday evening at the Post Housing Estate, Effurun, based on credible intelligence regarding a syndicate involved in cybercrime and alleged terror financing.

Acting on the tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer of Ekpan Division swiftly deployed a tactical team led by an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to the location.

The raid, which took place at about 5:45 p.m., led to the arrest of one Kelvin Odini, 33, identified as a key suspect, along with 183 others reportedly caught engaging in criminal activities.

Items recovered during the operation include 273 laptops, 97 mobile phones, one iPad, a table phone, nine laptop chargers, and two WiFi routers.

All suspects, along with the seized items, have been transferred to the divisional headquarters for further processing.

Police sources confirmed that a full-scale investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate who may have fled the scene.
