Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested seven suspected “one-chance” criminals in connection with the killing of Miss Oluchi Opara Glory, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who had recently completed her service in Abuja.
The arrests followed a petition filed on July 21, 2025, by Onyegbula Akujuobi & Co., which was forwarded to the Inspector General of Police and endorsed to the FCT Commissioner of Police.
Acting on the petition, the Scorpion Squad led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey launched an intelligence-driven operation that resulted in the arrests.
According to sources, the suspects were picked up between August 8 and September 25, 2025, through actionable digital and reconstructive intelligence.
Those arrested include Solomon Obada, 29, from Ado LGA of Benue State and resident in Mararaba, Nasarawa State; Olemba Ajonwe, 29, from Otukpo LGA of Benue State and resident in Aso, Mararaba; and Aba Godwin, 40, from Ogwarigbo in Benue, who lives in Mararaba and had only recently been released from prison two months ago over a similar “one-chance” case.
Others are Kadijat Yakubu, 18, from Sokoto State and resident in Badarawa, Kaduna; Sunday Ejih Okpeh, 29, from Otukpo, Benue, also resident in Aso, Mararaba; Joseph Oche Samuel, 25, from Benue, living in Aso, Mararaba; and Michael Sunday Eneh, 25, from Cross River State, also based in Aso, Mararaba.
Investigations showed that the victim’s mobile phone was forensically tracked to Kaduna, where it was recovered from suspect Kadijat Yakubu. During interrogation, Obada and Ajonwe confessed that the victim was held inside their operational vehicle, a blue Golf car, and stabbed during a struggle over her phone.
They admitted abandoning her while she was bleeding in Wuse II, Abuja.
Police confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down one other suspect still at large, while items recovered so far include the victim’s phone and the operational vehicle used in the crime.
Authorities assured that investigations are continuing and that justice will be served.
