Police arrest Asaba content creator over rape after woman’s death

The Delta State Police Command has arrested an Asaba-based content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as “Odogwu of Asaba,” over allegations of raping a 20-year-old woman who later died after recording a video accusing him of the assault.

The arrest followed a petition alleging that the woman travelled from Warri to Asaba after Ogbonna allegedly invited her with a promise to assist and mentor her in content creation.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer in Delta State, Bright Edafe, said the woman later died despite efforts to save her after she reportedly consumed a toxic substance.

Edafe said the suspect is in police custody and that investigations into the allegations are ongoing.

He urged members of the public to allow the investigation to run its course while assuring that anyone found culpable would be brought to justice.
