Police arrest four Liberians over alleged visa fraud in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four Liberian nationals in connection with an alleged visa fraud case in the Ikorodu area of the state.

Security sources disclosed that police received a report at about 3:30 p.m. on January 20 regarding a serious dispute involving some Liberian nationals at their residence in the Mowonla area of Ikorodu.

Acting on the information, a team of police officers was immediately deployed to the scene, where four suspects were arrested and taken to the station for investigation.

The arrested suspects were identified as Rebecca Mollie, 30; Joseph Brisbane, 45; Bility Famba, 35; and Reina Kartec, 24.

During interrogation, Mollie alleged that in August 2025, a fellow Liberian, Patrick Charman, 47, deceived her into travelling from Liberia to Nigeria by claiming he was based in Australia and could facilitate her onward journey to Australia. She said Charman collected 1,500 dollars from her for visa processing.

She further alleged that upon her arrival in Nigeria, she was received by another Liberian national, Naomi Koso, 36, who allegedly collected an additional 1,290 dollars from her under the guise of continuing the visa arrangements.

According to the police, Mollie later discovered that she had been defrauded and demanded a refund of her money to enable her return to Liberia.

The four suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend Patrick Charman and Naomi Koso. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
