The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four members of a suspected syndicate accused of defrauding over 100 people of more than N500 million through a bogus visa scheme.

Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, told journalists on Monday that the suspects — aged 23, 25, 27, and 36 — were apprehended on July 16 by operatives of the Ago-Okota Division before the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further probe.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, all employees of an educational consultancy, allegedly lured victims with false promises of securing Canadian and Australian work visas.

Jimoh said the suspects remain in custody and will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations, adding that efforts are underway to track down other members of the syndicate still at large.
