Police in Adamawa State have arrested a 19-year-old man, Mohammed Umar, for allegedly disguising himself as a woman at a church in Yola South Local Government Area.
Umar, a resident of Abuja Road in Yola South, was reportedly seen loitering suspiciously around the LCCN Church in Ngurore while dressed in female clothing.
His presence raised concerns among church members.
According to a statement issued by the state police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, the suspect was apprehended on Monday, May 19, 2025, following a report filed by a concerned individual, Sunday Andrawus, who noticed the suspect’s unusual behavior.
In response to the report, officers from the Ngurore Divisional Police Headquarters arrested Umar at the church premises.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has since ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola for a thorough investigation.
The motive behind the suspect’s actions remains under investigation.
