Police arrest murderer of Bauchi singer, John Zuya

Police in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State have arrested a suspect in connection with the mysterious death of popular Sayawa musician, John Zuya.

Zuya, widely celebrated among the Sayawa people for his captivating songs, had recently returned from Lagos, where he performed before a large audience and reportedly made a substantial income.

However, shortly after his return, he was found dead under unclear circumstances, sending shockwaves through his community.

Days later, the Deputy Chairman of Zayoda, Tafawa Balewa branch, Yakubu Alhamdu, alleged in a viral Facebook video that Zuya was murdered by his close friend and fellow artist, Emmanuel Wakili.

According to Alhamdu, Wakili confessed to killing Zuya out of jealousy, claiming he “captured Zuya’s soul” in a bag and struck him on the head — an act said to explain the blood found on the singer’s forehead.

The incident has plunged the Sayawa community into grief, with widespread calls for justice.

Police have since apprehended Wakili, confirming that investigations are underway to determine the true circumstances surrounding Zuya’s death.
