Police operatives have sealed off the state secretariat of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The police officers acting on the directive of the state government also sealed off some NNPP offices in the Borno State capital.

The party’s governorship candidate in Borno State, Umaru Alkali, made the disclosure while speaking to journalists in Maiduguri on Thursday.

“The policemen were deployed to the party’s secretariats along Abbaganaram and Gidan Maradara area between Wednesday and Thursday to prevent the NNPP members from entering their offices,” he said.

An eyewitness confirmed the presence of dozens of anti-riot policemen and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) with patrol vehicles stationed at the Abbagannaram junction on Thursday afternoon.
