Police arrest serial vehicle thief, accomplice in Kano

The operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested a serial vehicle thief, Ibrahim Usman, and his accomplice in the state.

The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, made this known in a statement on Saturday.

Kiyawa stated that a Hilux vehicle was recovered from the arrested suspects.

He noted that Usman, who hails from Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was apprehended on Tuesday, May 31 with a stolen Toyota Hilux in Kano, adding that his interrogation led to the arrest of his accomplice, Hamisu Ibrahim, aged 55, who specialises in making master keys for the criminals.

The police spokesperson said 29 master keys for vehicles and tricycles were found in Ibrahim’s possession.

Kiyawa noted that the owner of the Hilux vehicle was traced and identified by the police.

“Significant arrests have been made and the following nine (9) pairs of Motor Vehicles plate numbers were recovered: PLATEAU BSA-272AA, PLATEAU JJN-782PQ, PLATEAU BUU-964AA, KANO AE560-BNK.

“KANO AA955-BNK, KANO AE485-KKU, KATSINA AE871-DRA, LAGOS DC360-FST, LAGOS AAA-328DW,” he added.

The police spokesman, however, urged the residents of the state whose vehicles were stolen with the above number plate to contact the police at the Bompai Police Command Headquarters.

Kiyawa noted that the suspects would be charged to court upon the completion of investigation.
