The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers in Shanga Local Government Area and recovered locally made weapons during the operation.

The arrest followed actionable intelligence, leading operatives to Bagudo Market where the suspects were apprehended. Police spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Friday.

The suspects were identified as Abubakar Muhammadu, Abdullahi Majo and Ali Alhaji Jemu. According to the police, they are linked to the abduction of a 55-year-old man from Bani Koso village in the area.

Usman said items recovered from the suspects included two locally fabricated firearms, one cartridge and three machetes.

The Commissioner of Police, Umar Mohammed Hadejia, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi for further investigation. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The police command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its control room numbers.

Meanwhile, in a related development, the Lagos State Police Command on Thursday uncovered a hideout disguised as a shrine and allegedly used by kidnappers in the Idimu area of the state.

Thirteen suspects were arrested in connection with the discovery.
