According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the arrest stems from an incident on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in which Peller was seen driving dangerously and causing a serious motor accident while broadcasting live, endangering both his life and the safety of other road users.

The police described the influencer’s actions as “extremely dangerous,” saying they could have resulted in fatal consequences.

They also noted that the act amounted to a deliberate attempt to commit suicide and posed a grave threat to innocent people on the road.

The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, with authorities stating that the case will be charged in a court of competent jurisdiction once investigations are concluded.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh warned social media influencers and members of the public against using online platforms to engage in reckless, unlawful or dangerous conduct.

He stressed that such behaviour would no longer be tolerated and that the full weight of the law will be applied regardless of social status or influence.

The incident has sparked public debate about the rising trend of risky stunts by content creators pursuing online engagement, with many Nigerians calling for stronger enforcement of traffic laws to deter similar actions.
