Police arrest transborder criminal financier in Kano

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Scorpion Squad have arrested a suspected transborder criminal financier, Alhaji Jazuli Adamu, 40, in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State, following actionable digital intelligence and confessions from previously arrested armed robbery suspects.

Findings revealed that Adamu allegedly serves as the financial coordinator for Alhaji Abdulkarim Ibrahim, also known as Gabeida, a Niger Republic–based mastermind accused of arming criminal gangs to carry out car-snatching operations targeting SUVs and Hilux vehicles across Nigeria.

Proceeds from the robbery operations were reportedly wired into Adamu’s account for onward distribution to members of the syndicate, while the stolen vehicles were moved across the border into Niger Republic.

Police recovered ₦15,280,000 from the suspect at the time of his arrest—money said to have been sent by Abdulkarim for onward payment to the criminal network.

Investigations further revealed that Adamu operates a mini Bureau de Change in Kano, with digital communication records showing transactions and payment receipts running into billions of naira between him and Abdulkarim.

Sources confirmed that several suspects who received payments for stolen vehicles through Adamu are currently in custody, as investigations into the cross-border syndicate intensify.
