Police debunk mass killings, confirm one dead in Kwara bomb blast

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the death of one person in an explosion caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by bandits in Woro, Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.

The incident, which happened on Monday morning, led to the death of a commercial driver, while a nursing mother was injured.

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, who confirmed the incident, debunked reports claiming the death of scores of people.

Ojo disclosed that the incident involved a driver of a commercial Toyota vehicle and the female passenger – a nursing mother with her baby.

He said the driver died on the spot after stepping on the IED, adding that the woman sustained serious injury.

The police commissioner, however, said the baby was unscathed, adding that security situation in the area has been brought under control.
