The Ogun State Police Command has deployed a tactical team to Ajebo community in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state after a viral video alleged that herdsmen were preparing to launch an attack on the community.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, in a statement on Friday, November 21, 2025, assured residents of the community that there was no imminent threat to their safety.
Odutola said the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered the tactical team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (operations) to assess the security situation in the community.
Odutola stated a joint operation was carried out by the police, Amotekun Corps, and So-Safe Corps.
She added that local hunters and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria were part of intelligence-driven investigation around Ajebo and adjoining settlements.

The police spokesperson said the operatives discovered that Fulani settlers in the area were not recent migrants but long-standing residents living peacefully in the community.
Odutola noted that women and children were also seen in shelters with no arms or suspicious activity detected, while adult males were said to have travelled to Oyo State for trading in line with their regular economic routine.
Odutola said investigations also revealed an extended RUGA settlement reportedly in existence for over a decade.
She stated that the traditional ruler of the community, Oba Rueben Oluwole, who was said to have approved a land allocation to the settlers, had been invited for clarification.
The police spokesperson, therefore, urged members of the public to remain calm and vigilant as well as refrain from sharing unverified information to avoid causing fear.
