The Katsina State Police Command has successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt and rescued five victims in Faskari Local Government Area.

This was revealed in a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Sadiq Aliyu, made available to journalists.

According to the statement, the incident occurred at 9:37 p.m. following a distress call reporting an attack by armed bandits on a Hummer bus (registration T0510 KN) and a white Mendez truck (LFA 508 YR) at Unguwar Basau along the Funtua-Gusau road.

Responding swiftly, a police patrol team engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle and overpowered them with superior firepower.

All five victims—two drivers and three passengers—were rescued.
