The Katsina State Police Command has successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt and rescued five victims in Faskari Local Government Area.
This was revealed in a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Sadiq Aliyu, made available to journalists.
According to the statement, the incident occurred at 9:37 p.m. following a distress call reporting an attack by armed bandits on a Hummer bus (registration T0510 KN) and a white Mendez truck (LFA 508 YR) at Unguwar Basau along the Funtua-Gusau road.
Responding swiftly, a police patrol team engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle and overpowered them with superior firepower.
All five victims—two drivers and three passengers—were rescued.

Four of the victims sustained injuries during the attack and are currently receiving treatment at the Sheme Primary Health Centre.
The State Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, confirmed the rescue and noted that investigations are ongoing, with further updates to be provided in due course.
