The Nigeria Police Force has successfully foiled an attempted attack and kidnapping in Kasuwan Magani, Kaduna State, rescuing 76 children in the process.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the operation occurred on January 5, 2026, after the Kaduna State Police Command received credible intelligence about bandits planning to target motorists transporting children in the area.
Police teams, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Kasuwan Magani, engaged the suspected attackers and repelled the threat. The rescued children, aged between 7 and 20, were unharmed.
Three suspects—Jonathan John, 25; Oliver Magaji, 27; and Bitrus Sawaba, 23—were arrested. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects intended to exploit the children for labour and domestic work in other parts of the country.
The suspects remain in police custody, while the rescued children are being safely held at the Command Headquarters pending identification by their parents or guardians.
Investigations are ongoing to apprehend any additional collaborators, and the suspects will be charged to court once investigations conclude.
CSP Hundeyin urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support proactive policing and ensure the protection of lives and property.
