Police inspector crushed to death at Ogun checkpoint

A truck has crushed a police inspector, Afolabi Adeola, to death at a checkpoint along the Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

The truck, said to have been loaded with 900 bags of cement, was reportedly approaching the checkpoint at top speed when the incident occurred.

Before ramming into the police inspector, the truck was said to have also rammed into another truck that had stopped at the checkpoint in compliance with police traffic control.

Police arrest dismissed soldier, two others for motorcycle theft in FCT  

The impact from the crash was said to have fatally injured Inspector Adeola, who was on official duty at the checkpoint.

A security analyst, Zagazola Makama, in a post on X, disclosed that officers from the traffic unit visited the scene, documented the crash, and recovered both vehicles to the station for further investigation.

The suspects involved are expected to be arraigned in court on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

However, the Ogun State Police Command has yet to speak on the incident as of press time.
